CBS is pulled the plug on Medium.
Attracting an average of 7.1 million viewers a week, Medium is the lowest-rated series on CBS. After all, this is the home of Two and a Half Men, TV’s most-watched sitcom. Almost all the other primetime programs on the network earn more than 10 million viewers per week.
Series star Patricia Arquette has confirmed that her days as psychic consultant Allison DuBois are numbered less than a year after NBC’s longrunning psychological thriller got the boot and moved to CBS. On Monday, Arquette confessed that the series’ current seventh season will be its last. The news hardly comes as a surprise. Speculation that the once hit show would be on the chopping block has been heating up The Watercooler ever since CBS announced in October that it was cutting back its episode order from 22 to 13. In fact, Medium only has two more episodes to film, leaving Patricia anxious to learn the fate of a character she’s grown to love.
“I was trying to get information from the writers about the last episode,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know what it’s going to be, but they’re really excited about it. They’re like, ‘We’re just going to burn the whole thing down!’ I’m really excited. It’s been a great time. I love that time in my life.”
